Reel Fishermen Aren’t Afraid to Sparkle

One thing I loved to do in Iowa when I was growing up and that was fishin’. Dad and I would take off every weekend when the weather was good and it didn’t matter what season it was, spring, summer, fall, or winter, if the fish were biting we were there. My uncle Bob had a hog farm and we would drive out past their place on a gravel road and walk a mile down a dirt trail to get to our fishing hole.

I spent many years fishing there with dad and when I think back on some of the best memories, I always remember him sitting there with a sparkle in his eye as he always caught more fish or the biggest bass. Thinking back to those days gave me the inspiration for “They’re not fish scales, it’s bass glitter.”
